Oh my god 🙄 theyre gunna “weed mommy” MSG. White suburban people are going to get rich using this “new salt substitute” while for the past 2 decades society shamed and boycotted Asian restaurants/ products that used the same ingredient.

ftr “banning sexual content from the internet is inherently queerphobic” and “perpetuating the idea that hypersexualization is an inherent trait of queerness is toxic and erasive” are two statements that can be and absolutely are simultaneously true

As the articles keep coming about Bill Gates's close relationship with Epstein and his long history of sexual advances on Microsoft employees, I'll just reminisce about all the times people told me I was wrong about billionaires being bad because "Bill Gates"

The Bill Gates news is proof that the biggest difference between a kind billionaire and a movie villain style billionaire is the quality of the NDA

This was just unsealed. In the last weeks of the Trump administration, William Barr's Justice Department tried to use a secret grand jury subpoena to unmask @NunesAlt, a Devin Nunes parody account.

At this particular moment? Amplify Palestinian voices. This is a war of narratives, and we need your help. We do not have a state-sponsored propaganda department, all we have is our truth and our social media accounts.

So now we're facing every major platform trying and succeeding banning NSFW which lemme tell you never works out well for anyone.

It's going to lead to people going underground. And again, I have to remind you that Queer content is bundled in.

Its not a bug, its a feature.

I'm at the point in my nerdy adult life where I'm strongly considering getting a specialty board game table.

Welp had our first "I'm not wearing a mask, I'm fully vaccinated!" run-in at the day job today despite the MASKS REQUIRED sign on the door. It went about as bad as you'd expect.

CDC really didn't think about how violent this will be for retail/food service/in-person places.

most ppl who put pronouns in their bios do so to be considerate of others

most vaccinated ppl who continue to wear masks do so to be considerate of others

what is wrong with you people that you're so enraged about people doing small things out of consideration for others?

in reply to Spencer

I have a couple explanations that may be both true at the same time:
- It is perceived as “weak” (solidarity) and should be weeded out from a “strong” (individualistic) society.
- It reflects poorly on people who don’t want to spend the effort being considerate so they lash out at the people making them look bad in comparison.

Someone on tv just said, “when we want to incentivize rich people we give them money but when we want to incentivize poor people we take away money,” and holy fuck that’s so true.

This trend of blaming defund when the cops haven’t been defunded and blaming an increased minimum wage when the wage hasn’t actually been raised is really a new level of having absolutely no argument.

Another thing I keep thinking about is how Israel prevents construction materials from entering Gaza. So every bomb that drops, every apartment building and house that's destroyed, is gone forever. They're collectively and permanently punishing every resident there.

you will never ever be able to convince me that this sudden capitulation of CDC leading to the 'mission accomplished' announcements everywhere has nothing to do with poverty wage jobs needing their workers.

There was an attempted coup four months ago where the president sent his supporters and domestic terrorists to attack Congress, kill his vice president, and overthrow an election and people are either acting like it never happened or like it’s a totally manageable non-crisis.

You've got to ask...what's the point? This is an exercise in futility and a guarantee that the process will not lead to anything like justice or accountability.

A year ago: I don't want to die from a preventable disease because other people refuse to wear a thin piece of cloth over their face

Now: Go ahead, wear a mask if you want. It has zero negative effect on me.

Note the snide "bright lighting for make-up". The tweet is basically insulting trans women for being big, tall, and "ugly".

Who else insults women when they're big, tall, and "ugly"?

Who else thinks all "real" women should be petite, small, and naturally "beautiful"?

@AlexandraErin That 51 isn't a prime is really just a shame. Something ought to be done. And 119? Please.

New: A since-deleted video from 2019 shows MTG harassing @AOC's office through a locked door. Calling her "crazy eyes" and telling her through the office's mailbox slot to "get rid of your diaper" while telling the office to open the door and come out.

Thanks CDC! Now we get to have liars who aren't vaccinated walk among those of us trying to protect ourselves or our immunocompromised family and friends and we'll have no way of telling them apart from vaccinated people. Thank you! This is what I was hoping for ALLLLL year!

The danger of a blind trust in the "forward march of history" is that this is not how history works.

Tried several different searches to find the name of a certain species of shark. The thing that finally got the results and showed me a salmon shark?

The colonial monopoly on violence is backed by the liberal demand for nonviolent resistance.

bank: to qualify for a mortgage you need to build credit

me: i have never missed a rent payment

bank: oh haha that doesn’t count it’s extremely different for some reason

I think we on the left could use a lot more friendly, approachable media. While I love me some good aggressive graphic design, right now, I think the right is consistently winning the propaganda game in part because they wrap their ideas with really easy-to-swallow tone and appeals to common sense. We can do that too, in pursuit of a more compassionate, humane, and just world.

So I made a couple images for my local chapter of the IWW that I'm pretty proud of.

I have SVG versions of these if people want to play with them. I'm happy for these to be spread widely; please download them, share them, modify them, whatever. Information wants to be free!

in reply to Eldevigo

I'm definitely interested in getting a bunch of these printed on stickers.
Are you OK with that?
Would you like me to send you some?
in reply to Eldevigo

Totally okay with that! If you'd like to send me a couple, that would be cool.

I'm happy to send you PDF (for printing) or SVG (for editing) versions if that would be helpful.

anyway my thesis is on how shakespeare is positioned as 'timeless' and 'universal' and therefore deployed for social conservatism. the perceived 'timelessness' of shakespeare is used to position transness as a new, niche cause that is fundamentally unserious

People love saying “you’re gonna need the police when you get robbed” and like I don’t know a single person who had a police officer stop them from getting robbed. I know a lot of people who got robbed and told the police who then took notes and drove away and did nothing.

Today is the anniversary of the Nazi book burnings, when the entire research library at Hirschfeld’s Institute of Sexology was publicly burned. Almost all scientific research into trans lives went kaput. People who think we appeared yesterday: there’s a reason you think that.

Consumer habits have shifted because there hasn’t been need to dress according to trends—we’ve all been in loungewear.

Essentially everyone has chosen an aesthetic outside of society’s gaze and so the trend of “cheugy” is an attempt to get people back in stores.

in reply to Spencer

I only learned what "cheugy" loosely means today and I like this take on it.

there is actually no ethical way to participate in cryptocurrency, and it’s not the same as other unethical industries like meat or fast fashion because those are things where the sustainable alternatives are unattainable to certain classes of people

silverwizard reshared this.

Really excited (aka, not remotely excited) to see the Wall Street Journal doing PR work for the edtech surveillance industry.

Journalists should do more than act as stenographers.

At the rate crypto-capitalist exploitation is progressing, we won't be able to produce anything that requires a data processor or flash bit storage by the end of the year.

And well...that's pretty much everything.

We're rapidly sprinting towards the neo dark ages.

Every piece of public infrastructure relies on a processor, from the city bus, to the machinery that builds roads, to the medical devices that treat everyday people.

Without even getting into long term environmental damage, crypto-capital is antithetical to society in the short.
