A couple months ago, I stopped using my #3Dprinter (an Ender 3 Pro) because filament had started leaking from behind the nozzle, leading to a huge mass of misplaced filament (and, of course, a failed print).
I pulled the hotend sock off, heated the printer, and tried to brush off the filament and its residue, but I haven't yet replaced the nozzle or the hotend sock. My printer has just been out-of-commission because my mind is stuck on "How do I finish this job properly?"
Does anyone have advice for thoroughly cleaning a hotend after a leak like this? Or replacing a nozzle? I'm sure I could look it up, but I'm hoping to hack my brain here with a bit of social interaction: maybe if people tell me directly how to get the printer back in working order, I'll follow through and do it.

Help me out, homebrewers!
Before our local homebrew supply store closed, I bought ingredients for my first batch of homebrewed beer. I have a 4 lb. mylar sack of liquid rye malt extract, 1 oz. of Equinox pellet hops, and an envelope of saison-style yeast.
Unfortunately, I've misplaced any recipe I might have intended to follow with these ingredients, and since I've never brewed before, I don't feel comfortable improvising. This is where you can help: can you point me to a recipe that I could make with these, or even just tell me what type(s) of beer would be well suited to this lineup?

I hate that we couldn't just have a nice thing. The Fediverse couldn't just be its own separate world, because extractive capitalism can not, will not, knows not how to stop. Now my days are spent thinking about watching homegrown social networking get consumed like Google ate email, about what fuckery they'll encourage to make self-hosted services illegal, until the web has well and truly been walled off and turned into the property of the biggest players.

Last year, I semi-quit Twitter, and the Reddit blackout means for a couple days, I've semi-quit that as well. It's somewhat nice, not being plugged into big corporate social media so much, but it also shines light on just how much of the modern internet is corporate social media.
I don't want to forgo the internet (or social media) entirely, I just want it to be a lot more personal and homespun.

Yes! Some art can be considered objectively popular or objectively adherent to a certain style, but personal taste itself is subjective.
Fascists naturally want to claim inherent superiority, it's the basis of their entire existence; an ideology of deliberate cruelty in service to narcissism. It's why they invent pseudo-scientific justifications like IQ scores or skull shapes or "objectively superior" art.
Talent & skill do exist, but they're not objective measures of artistic qualities. Rather, they measure the ability of the artist to translate their intent into the desired result.

It is fascinating to me how strong people's reactions to subjectivity can be.
A subjective judgment can still be deeply meaningful, closely held, or something you're unwilling to waver on! You can still believe with all your heart that Groucho Marx was the pinnacle of comedy and acknowledge that belief is not incontrovertible.

The rhetoric was always obviously bullshit, but now that I'm a parent, I am fucking livid that the queerphobic hatemongers would appeal to a supposed "right" of mine to justify their abusive and genocidal policies.
Motherfuckers, I don't want your "right" to tyrannize my child. I want trans and queer kids to be safe. I want kids to have access to accurate information, even if their parents don't think they should. I want kids to be treated as fucking human beings, not property, and given the opportunities to develop autonomy accordingly.

Behind the scenes: My code here is an absolute mess. I'm trying to impose some order on my CSS by using a SMACSS approach, but I swapped to that horse midstream, so a good third of my CSS rules are still in a poorly-organized base spreadsheet. I don't understand #GoLang for shit, so I'm hacking things together instead of making a setup that's actually, y'know, DRY. And somehow I now have three CSS grids nested within each other. 😖
I kinda hope that once I have something vaguely presentable, I can open up my work and ask others to review it, so I can clean it up. I'm not expecting to make the world's cleanest or most professional code—this is still a personal website; I'm okay with having some fingerprints on it—but I know the process of revision would help me grow.
But that's a ways off. I still have to make... well, everything that you don't see in this screenshot.

If you were trying to teach someone about critical reading—what it means to critically engage with a text, and how—what 1-3 resources would you give them?
It seems to me critical reading is a deeply underdeveloped and misunderstood skill. I see people dismiss it because they see it as pointless intellectual faffery and/or futile efforts to squeeze the "Hidden Meaning" out of a text. Or they see it as a roundabout way to judge something as Good or Bad.
I wish that when I was in high school, or even college, someone had sat me down and explained what it meant to critically engage with a text. How the goal isn't to find the one true meaning, but instead to place the text in conversation with others, using it to illuminate a concept—that sort of stuff. I got there eventually, but mostly by trial and error, and I'd love to find resources that provide clearer guidance.
So, scholars of the Fediverse: What 1-3 resources would you use to help introduce someone to critical reading?

Remove the lower Bowden tube clip. Press the circle and pull the tube up. Some filament will pull through the extruder, leave about an inch of filament sticking out of the top of the hot end and cut the filament.
Turn on the hot end, prob 20-30 degrees below print temps. Keep an eye on the temp as the fan isn't blowing on the hot end.
While it's heating, use pliers and pull up on the filament sticking out. Not hard, just medium. As it heats up it'll start to come out and get all stretchy.
Once it's heated use needle nose pliers to pull off as much plastic from the hot end as you can. You shouldn't have to pull hard.
Let the hot end cool. You can use the fan to help. Unscrew the two screws at the top of the hot end attachi

Use your nozzle cleaner wire to clear out as much filament from the nozzle as you can.
Remove the nozzle with a hex driver while the nozzle is hot. A screwdriver with 1/4" bits should work, or a socket or box wrench. I've had bad luck with brass fittings and open end/stamped wrenches.
There's a tiny set screw on the red cooling fins right in the center. Loosen it but don't remove it.
Loosen the Phillips screw on the side of the heating block. Mostly make sure the head isn't full of plastic.
There is a set screw on the heating block holding the heater in. Loosen it but don't remove it.
There are two countersunk screws on the heater block attaching it to the red cooling fins. Remove them. The heating block will now be loose, so make sure it won't move unexpectedly because the wires are pulling on it.
Grab the heater block with pliers and slide it up and out of the red cooling fins. Using other pliers, turn the stainless steel heat break tube and unscrew it from the heating block.
Using needle nose pliers, slide the heater cylinder out of the heating block, then turn the printer off so the heater stops heating. You can also push it out with an allen key, just don't let it flop around.
Unscrew the Phillips screw and remove the thermistor.
I use a drill bit by hand to clean out the heat break and heater hole. Don't use power tools.
If you have a rethreading tap set you can use that to clean the threads for the nozzle and heat break. I think it's M6 fine, but not sure. If not use a pick to clean it out.
Check the threads. On mine the root cause was removing the nozzle after a leak when it was cold, I stripped the threads. If that happens it's time for a new block. The new ones are pretty and gold until you heat them.
At least reassembly can be done cold. Screw the heat break into the block. Screw the nozzle in. The heat break and the nozzle should touch inside the heat block. If rhey don't you get leaks.
Slide the heat break into the red cooling fins. Put in the two countersunk screws and tighten them evenly, just snug. You don't need to crank down any of these screws.
Tighten the set screw in the red cooling fins.
Slide the heater into the heat block and tighten the set screw. Put the thermistor bulb in the small hole and tighten the Phillips screw over the wires. Not too tight! You don't want to short the wires.
Unscrew the assembly from the carriage and reinstall it right side up. Put both screws in loose first, and push down on the hot end slightly so it's touching both screws equally (and therefore straight up and down). Tighten the screws.
Reinstall the Bowden tube, making sure it's all the way in. Reinstall the clip.
Reinstall the cover and fans. Install the heat sock.
You'll need to reset your nozzle Z offset but it's been so long since I've used stock Marlin I don't remember how to do it. If you build your own Marlin you can enable the Z offset wizard which makes it easy. You should also do this with nozzle changes. Running the PID autotune couldn't hurt either.
