The point has been made repeatedly, but I still cannot get over how "there is a market for labor, sometimes market conditions change, and companies actually have to participate in that market" is being covered like some crisis that requires desperate and unorthodox measures.

My node currently is not displaying link previews. If I draft a post and attach (using the paperclip icon in Frio) a link to this blog post, a rich preview of the link appears in the post composer, complete with featured image and subtitle:
However, when I publish the post, the rich link preview is gone, replaced with a very plain link that only contains the title of the post:
I'm running Friendica 2021.04. What might be causing this issue, and how can I troubleshoot and fix it?
Yesterday's crafting project: finally assembling my #piecepack! I did some serious redesigning this week, and sat down yesterday with my long #themagnusarchives backlog and put it all together.
I plan to release the files and create a version for sale on The Game Crafter soon.
After many hours today spent cutting and affixing labels, here's a finished piecepack! It definitely bears the idiosyncrasies of a homemade, DIY project, but I like that—gives it a bit of charm.
If you haven't heard of it, a piecepack is a public-domain game system/set of components. It's not a game, but rather, pieces that can be reconfigured and used in any number of different games. It's like a deck of cards for board games!

The icons I used here are from game-icons.net, which is an excellent resource for Creative Commons-licensed vector images for a variety of purposes. I made the designs in Inkscape, which has been my go-to open-source vector editor for what feels like a decade.
I'll probably be putting these files up for download on BoardGameGeek, and possibly my own website too, before long, and I'm also thinking of using these assets to make a piecepack you can purchase through The Game Crafter. I've also got designs for two of the existing "expansions" for the piecepack, Four Seasons and Playing Cards, so I may work on those some time in the future. For now, though, I'm stoked to finally have this project completed.

It just wasn’t clicking for me. I love the watercolor effect in theory, and I was happy with the symbols, but the pieces weren’t gelling. Certainly not enough for me to commit by putting it all together. So it sat for over a year as an unfinished project.
Last night, I started wondering how one might make an engine-building board game with the piecepack, which led me to the realization that it would be much easier to prototype if I, y’know, had a piecepack. So I returned to my design.
I thought about incorporating some type of geometric design into the backgrounds—enough to give a bit of texture and character to each suit. I poked around looking at ceramic tile designs before I realized that half-square triangle quilt blocks had exactly the kind of patterns I was looking for. So this morning, before my first client, I banged out a new proof-of-concept:
