Never forget what we lost when Apple decided they should all be the same shape macosicongallery.com/years/201…

the Android icon guidelines used to align quite well with the old macOS icon guidelines, too, and these wouldn't look out of place on many Linux desktop environments 🥺

But iOS rounded-square icons took over and here we are 😭

Be still my heart. ❤️‍🩹🫣 (oh, the panic truck!)

These icons are so ugly. Or I've been brainwashed. Either way, I didn't like it.

Google and Android too. It's so damn hard to find specific apps now, because they lack distinct silhouettes and color schemes.

this legit might be a reason why I might stick to Windows. For all of the shit Microsoft has done there, at least they haven’t decided that all Windows icons need to be squircles as well.

If they do something like that tho… maybe it’s Linux time.

I can not overstate how much unique outlines help me quickly identify apps, and just how much I struggle on a daily basis now trying to find the app I want in my dock.

what a wonderful time in computer history that was. so whimsical. so fun. so lighthearted. 🥲

many developers who not care about the Mac HAVE HIDEOUS ICONS THAT different sizes and they look awful in the Dock, right now they at least same size

a lot of that Apple iconography calls back to the early System days, and I was actually thinking about using dad's SE/30 or Powerbook 145, recently, and how everything was immediately identifiable, despite being low resolution and black and white
